Selection Activities
This section steps you through the various selection activities
undertaken by AUSTRAC.
Numerical & Verbal Tests
Cognitive testing
We have two types of cognitive tests. These are online, timed and multiple choice tests designed to measure your numerical and verbal ability.
Numerical reasoning test
Numerical reasoning measures the ability to make correct decisions or inferences from numerical data. The data presented and the tasks set are relevant to a business environment. The emphasis in these tasks is on understanding and evaluating data rather than on computation. It is not a maths test!
Verbal reasoning test
Verbal reasoning measures the ability to evaluate the logic of various kinds of arguments. The information presented is relevant to a business environment. The test emphasises understanding, using and evaluating verbal information rather than language usage, spelling or grammar.
Cognitive Testing Policy
AUSTRAC uses psychometric instruments to enhance the quality and quantity of information available for our selection process. Please refer to the AUSTRAC Psychometric testing policy.
Assessment centres
There are no tricks in our assessment tasks; we simply want to assess how well you will fit in at AUSTRAC. The assessment will consist of various tasks including group and individual activities and you will be unable to do any specific preparation for the activities. The most important thing to remember is to be yourself and relax. This is also your chance to decide if AUSTRAC is right for you.
