Executive biographies

Russell Wilson, General Counsel

Russell commenced with AUSTRAC in August 2006 as its first General Counsel. He is also an active member of AUSTRAC's Executive Committee and Leadership Group.

Russell has been a practising lawyer for almost 20 years.  Prior to commencing at AUSTRAC, Russell worked for a significant period in a public sector law firm in areas including commercial law, corporate governance, grants and funding, dispute resolution, procurement and business structuring.

Russell has worked in private practice as a commercial litigator advising major financial institutions and public utilities.  He also spent a very interesting period as Associate to the Chief Justice of the ACT Supreme Court.

Russell has a Bachelor of Arts in political science and philosophy, and a Bachelor of Laws, both from the Australian National University (ANU).  He has also completed the requirements for a Master of Laws from the ANU.
